As one of the features that make the HK 990 a top-of-the-line audio system, high-resolution synchronization link (HRS link) lets harman kardon® CD players lock themselves to the external clock of the amplifier to ensure a jitter-free connection. Similar to having the CD playback inside the amplifier, the HRS link carries both the system and data Clocks of the amplifier, and the data stream from the CD player. With the HK 990's XLR inputs, you get balanced connections designed to reject both external noise (from power wiring, etc.) as well as internal crosstalk from adjacent signal cables. That's why, with heavy-duty binding posts, your HK 990 receiver can be used with a wide variety of speaker wires. And by accepting bare wire up to 10 mm2, banana plugs or spades, the heavy-duty binding posts on the rear panel of the amplifier secure the best possible connection between the output and the speaker wire.

A built-in protection plan.

When you have a powerful amplifier, the need for proper heat management is essential. In addition to the regular heat management system, the harman kardon® HK 990 features a thermal tracking mechanism called ThermalTrak - which includes internal temperature sensors that bias the current of the output stage in real time. Additionally, two ultra-low noise fans have been integrated directly into the massive heat sinks to assure the amplifier will always perform under the best possible temperature conditions. How about that - a system that can take care of itself.

Choose the right path - digital or analog.

Some like it analog, and some do digital. The harman kardon® brand serves both. By having dual-path technology, the HK 990 allows customers to decide for themselves whether to run a pure analog input directly into the amplifier stages, or to use digital inputs that are lead through the DSP for processing.
