Turning off electronics on standby power is easy as turning off lights. |
Going Green is Good for Your Wallet and the Environment Standby power--also known as "phantom power"--is the energy that devices consume while they are still plugged into a power outlet, even while the device is turned off. This wasteful "phantom power" is generated by TVs, computers, computer accessories, battery chargers, and many other electronic devices.
Although the devices are not actually doing anything, they are still sipping energy. And not just minuscule amounts--the California Energy Commission estimates that as much as 15% of household electricity use can be attributed to standby power loss!
With the costs of energy high, both in dollars and environmental impact, it's in our best interests to conserve whenever possible. And with the Belkin Conserve Surge Protector, being green has never been easier, so now you have no excuse for wasting energy.
The Conserve Surge Protector features a remote control with a range of up to 60 feet and a convenient wall mount. By mounting the remote near your light switch, powering down the devices connected to your surge protector is as simple as turning off the lights as you leave the room. You can also detach the remote and keep it anywhere that's convenient, such as on a desktop or coffee table.
The remote also features adjustable channels, which means that you can control multiple Conserves in different rooms without interference. It also means you can control up to several surge protectors with a single remote to really maximize your energy savings. You'll be rewarded with both a lower utility bill and a smaller carbon footprint.
Eight Versatile Surge-Protected Outlets The Conserve offers a total of eight surge-protected outlets, six of which are "switchable" and two that are "always-on." This means that you can connect up to six devices that can be controlled by the remote, and two devices that will always stay on. The "always-on" outlets are useful for devices that require a constant flow of energy, such as routers, alarm clocks, cable modems, or DVRs.
Smart Space-Saving Design The Conserve Surge Protector features a slim design that saves space. The six switchable outlets are clearly separated from the two always-on outlets to prevent any mix up. A sliding safety cover on every outlet provides an additional measure of protection, and a cable management system keeps cords neat and organized. LED lights let you know when the surge protection is active and if there's a faulty ground.
Each of the outlets is surge protected to a maximum spike current of 72,000A. The Belkin Conserve Surge Protector is backed by a lifetime product warranty and a $100,000 connected equipment warranty.
Included with this Product 8-outlet surge protector, wireless remote switch with wall-mount.
Owner Reviews, Ratings, Comments and CriticismExcellent product, push the remote transmitter button and the surge protector switches off. Push it again and the surge protecter turns on. Will definitely save electricity by cutting power to devices that are always on standby. Only problem with the unit I received was that initially the remote switch would not turn the surge protector on. I thought that I might have to return it, until I checked the frequency settings for the remote switch and the surge protector. Switched them to match and the unit worked like a charm. It seems that the factory set settings did not match. This highlighted a key feature of this unit. You can use one remote switch to control your entertainment system's surge protector, and a seperate remote switch to control your PC system's surge protector, OR you can use one remote to control two surge protectors.
