I've planed on taking this scope on day hikes etc. The straight 50mm Brunton Eterna is listed at 24oz. This one shows 38.3oz or 1085g on my scales. Sigh. Two points off for that. I am combining it with a Manfrotto 709BR table tripod, which is 6oz (170g) and seems to just be able to support it. (Because of the angled eye piece I might get away with such a tiny tripod.) The scope appears to be well made (mechanics are solid, says Japan but no manufacturer) and comes with a nice protective neoprene pouch. Using it the full moon is large, bright and the craters clearly visible. Did not have enough time to evaluate it in the field on animals and stars (without moon). Just first impressions.
