Kenwood's KIV-BT901 digital media receiver will make you wonder why you ever had CDs in your car. Its cool click-wheel interface and big display are ideal for use with your iPod, but hook up an iPhone and you can hit the road with your favorite PANDORA Internet radio stations too. You can set the full-color display to show artist, title, and station info in either 3 or 5 lines of text, and you can even use the receiver's controls to pause and skip songs, plus give "thumbs up" and "thumbs down" ratings.
Owner Reviews, Ratings, Comments and CriticismJust had this unit installed yesterday. Have only had limited time to toy with it but thought I'd post my findings thus far. Good: Plugged in my 160gb iPod classic and the unit picked it up right away. Cycling from track to track there is somewhat of an annoying pause in between tracks, it would appear that you cannot track forward until the unit reads the album artwork (if present). This is not the end of the world but I can see where it would certainly become frustrating. Artwork can be displayed a few different ways/sizes and looks great on the high-res screen. Bluetooth works very well so far, calls are picked up immediately and music cuts out when you receive a call. The people I've spoken with said I am coming through loud and clear and I have not had to speak loud or louder than usual. The unit also immediately downloaded my contacts from my iPhone 4. The unit will also display incoming text messages on the screen and you have the option to text back using the included remote control. Buttons can be illuminated in 20+ different color shades and the overall look of the unit is quite sharp and sleek. Power output seems strong, has improved the sound quality and volume of my factory component speaks (07 Accord Ex). There are many options both preset and manual EQ that provide many different sound options. The Bad navigating from menu to menu can be time consuming as it requires the pushing of the volume/select nob several times to get where you want to go. The pause between track forward/back can be frustrating while it seems as though you cannot track forward until the unit loads the album artwork. The face is not detachable making theft somewhat of a concern.
