KLH's stylish, Platinum II Series 325 II bookshelf speakers would be perfect as compact, affordable stereo speakers or as components in a multichannel surround-speaker system: use one pair for left/right front or for surround speakers--or pick up 2 pairs for both. The 2-way speakers each use a pair of 3.625-inch midrange woofers and a .875-inch liquid-cooled dome tweeter. Efficient and easily driven, the speakers are rated for use with amplifiers and surround receivers supplying anywhere from 5 to 125 watts per channel.
The 325 IIs are small--they stand about a foot high and produce next to nothing below 80 Hz (the upper bass region)--but if you use them in tandem with a subwoofer, you can extend their perceived range much deeper. Positioning them close to walls will reinforce the bass they do produce, and most listeners will probably find the sound reasonably full-bodied--just don't expect the kind of low-end slam you'd get from floorstanding tower speakers.
The speakers are magnetically shielded, so they can be placed on a TV or video monitor without degrading the picture via stray magnetic fields.
Included with this Product Two speakers, 2 speaker grilles, and a setup manual.
Owner Reviews, Ratings, Comments and CriticismI was looking for expanding my Onkyo receiver. I looked into many brands like JBL, Polk, Cerwin Vega and many other serious competitors. During my research I came across the JBL Platinum line of speakers. In the beginning I was a bit skeptical of the name KLH . The price was too low to reflect on the quality. So I did a lot of research and there are very few reviews for any of the new KLH line of speakers. I ordered them New from Amazon. First Impression after receiving them: Fit and finish quality was exceptional. It impressed my right from the gitco. They are designed in U.S. However they are assembled in China which was very evident. They don't look like 39 dollar speakers at all. Very sturdy and finish is chrome like. Hooking up: First thing you guys should do is throw away the speaker cables which come in the box. They are worthless. Keep in mind you can make good expensive speakers sound cheap if you use cheap wires. You need at least 16 Gauge or better cable to really drive these puppies. I hooked up those speaker cables which came in the box for laughs and they sounded like 2 dollars speakers off street and the sound was very distorted. However as soon as I hooked up my heavy speaker cables designed for good sound. The sound improved 10-fold. I could not believe my ears. The sound in a broad spectrum was exceptional. The highs and the lows. It was very clean. The 2 mid range and the tweeter do an exceptional job. Keep in mind- its not a subwoofer. So don't use it like one. It won't give you anything below 80Hz. So if you intend to hear bass you will need a subwoofer. These speakers are very well designed to handle power in a very clean manner. I highly recommend these speakers to anyone who enjoys good taste. KLH speakers have excellent quality and superb sound. Best of all you won't have to pay, JBL infinity price for these. They should be priced over $100 for what they sound.
