Specifications include a 141-foot field of view at 1,000 yards (at 18x power), a 20-foot close-focus range, and a 2.8mm exit pupil (at 18x). Owner Reviews, Ratings, Comments and CriticismI've owned several 'compact' spotting scopes and this is the best. It is big (powerful) enough for most occasions and small enough to lug around. I'm giving it the highest rating mostly because of design and optics. This is a rugged scope which is what I wanted as I'm pretty hard on field equipment. I bought this mostly for bird watching, but it is alright for some astronomy and other uses. I also own Brunton binoculars and they have been my favorite for more than 10 years. All in all these are very high quality optics at a good mid-range price. If you require a really powerful scope this is not it, but if, like me, you tote yours around and use it in the field a lot, it's a good compromise. At most distances the power is fine, but probably identifying a bird at half a mile would be problematic. The issue here is quality and Brunton really delivers. I think they make a slanted eye-piece version of this, but I'm not sure it has much advantage.
