Owner Reviews, Ratings, Comments and CriticismThis is the latest technology when it comes to satellite antennas and it really works good. Here's the deal about this antenna. It can look at five (5) satellites at the same time and it only needs one RG6 coax cable.. so you only need to poke one small hole in the wall; or buy a flat section of RG6 and run it under a door or through a window. I have seen it at solidsignal.com. The big deal is always dish location and aiming, and this is where having it installed by Directv can really payoff. You need to be able to "see" the five satellites that are basically over Mexico City and they are twenty degrees apart from the 99 sat to the 119 sat. Also you do not want to put holes in your roof with the gigantic foot plate screws that come with the dish assembly. Look for a way to stick it on the side of the house. Note that this SWM (singel wire module) antenna has a separate $20 120v wall power supply that you need buy. Also note that you must have a grounding block for the coax line and a ground for the antenna. The good news is that (with the in-line power supply) you can have a very long coax, 150 feet or so, running between the antenna and the receiver. Aiming this sucker is something else. With good reason everyone will tell you to buy a signal meter. Well they cost about $200 and once you learn how it works and then peak the antenna signal what do you do with it? The alternative is to use you TV and the satellite meter that comes with the Directv receiver . FYI The new HR24 HDTV receiver/recorder ($200)is absolutely magnificent.
