Owner Reviews, Ratings, Comments and CriticismI purchased these to go in the workout room so that I could hear the tv over the sound of the treadmill and step machine. Turning up the tv loud enough lead to ringing headaches after workouts. So, I bought these and they are hooked up to an onkyo m-282 dedicated amplifier. They certainly outperform the tv speakers... But, I compared them with a pair of Phase Technology Teatro 4.5 on a yamaha rx-797 (A/B speaker buttons let you switch speakers instantaneously!) The Klipsch did sound clearer. BUT, the high frequency was so loud that it was sort of painful to listen to them compared with the phase techs. Music with lots of cymbals was the worst. The mid range kind of disappeared and you were left with a substantial bass and painful cymbals. Because the whole reason for purchasing these was to make listening to the tv comfortable - I am going to give them some time, but I'm uncomfortable and I'm probably going to go listen to some alternatives at local audio stores. I bought these because sonos was selling rb-51's as their recommended speaker pairs. So, I assumed the rb-61's must be pretty good as they were one step up from that model. But,after purchasing these and listening I did some research and learned that Klipsch's whole thing is their horn design. A horn allows you to move air more easily and apparently the Sonos amplifier is not very powerful. Sonos did not choose the rb-51's because they were the best speakers in that price range - they chose them because the horn is a good complement to their lower power amplifier. The horn around the tweeter is what is giving these speakers their loud high frequency response on the 100 watt onkyo amplifier I have driving them. I'll update you as I continue testing. Please comment with any suggestions. Maybe I will just get another pair of phase techs.
